vppv − find ascending aorta and pulmonary artery ending location

SYNOPSIS

DESCRIPTION

vppv vppv determines the last slice of ascending aorta and pulmonary artery. It is also the top of the heart region. Starting from the last axial slice with pulmonary artery going upwards, if the pulmonary artery region in a slice has 1) a reasonable size (diameter at least 10mm and at most 40mm); 2) enough boundary constraint, i.e. most adjacent voxels are labeled, this slice is considered as the pulmonary artery and ascending aorta bottom.

Input if= is the segmented pulmonary artery. ia= is the standard label map. id= is the dilated pulmonary artery. xs= and zs are the x,y and z resolutions. hbot= is the estimated diaphragm location. Output of= is the processed aorta and pulmonary artery.
