NAME
vvbreast − estimate the vertical extents of the breast.
SYNOPSISvvbreast if= pf= za= zh= xc= of=
DESCRIPTION
vvbreast |
estimates the superior and inferior extents of the whole breast region. The inputs are soft tissues that are not attached to the thoracic cavity and the ROI of the breast (region anterior to the scapular attachments). The x coordinate of the sternum center, the z coordinate of the sternal angle and the inferior end of the sternum are also required. The output is the mask of the updated breast ROI. The vertical extents will also be printed out as variables b_zl and b_zh in wish format. |
The vertical extents are first initialized using the sternal angle and the inferior end of the sternum. The range may be further expanded depending on the actual vertical range of the approximate glandular tissues. The resulting vertical range is only an estimate, since the exact mammary glands have not been segmented yet. The extents tend to be generous (as long as no muscles are included) to accommodate the patient with few glandular tissues.
